It is very satisfying to publish on the Internet and see your visitor count rise each month. Though most of my work is the written word, I see this as speaking to others. In fact, it is vital to do so. A most amazing thing happened to me after I learned to speak freely.

In 2011, I had an accident that prevented me from working for a few weeks, and still limits my output. This caused a serious drop in my visitor numbers. You do not need to speak to your audience every day, but a prolonged absence, if you work alone, will cause a drop in numbers. However, one website, where I had encouraged a network of free speakers, grew throughout my absence, and continues to grow as like-minded people share experiences, opinions, and advice.

It is completely different from employing people, where your responsibilities often restrict your freedom to be absent from your business. Sharing freedom of speech in this way lets everyone concerned make their contributions when it suits them. Freedom of speech expressed in those terms is a very special thing to share.
