How can I keep a forum speaking freely, but restrict spam questions?

On another forum, I keep getting spam. I think I solved it with ReCaptcha, but not sure if it is working, and if it does work, does it deter people from asking their questions?

I am not sure what ReCaptcha is,however i can make suggestions on how to stop this.
One suggestion that I can make is that if you are the admin of this particular forum, you could warn them against putting the Spam on the forum. If this does not work you may have to delete them of your forum.

Hope this has been a good help to you.

The trouble is, most spammers are stupid. They do not read the guidelines, and they do not respect other members. I am going to try a new approach with this forum - stop them getting any chance of making any money here.

More about this soon, so make sure you are signed up for the update service by completing the box on the right.
I still have more to do on this, but the approach is to make sure spam never get's posted, or soon gets ignored.

Automatic robot spam  - where computer programs are set up to post messages with links back to other websites are stopped by ReCaptcha. If you do not know what this is, try asking a question when you are not logged in.

Human spam, where people, who have no respect for others, post messages manually that only serve to promote themselves, will never get any benefit. Any links will be removed, and if the message does not help people here, it will be removed.

If you see any question, or answer, or comment that does not make this forum better, please click the flag button.
On some forums and message boards they have a system where that the comment has to be seen by the Admin before being posted on to the forum and this has been proven to stop Spam messages being posted on the forum.
Yeah, but don't recommend it until you have tried it. Who wants to spend there time going through loads of messages and ticking them or deleting them.

You can volunteer for it if you want, but you will have to allocate time every day to check the moderation list. And I am definitely not paying for it!
